Kansas City shooting : Chiefs Parade 2024

Following the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl triumph parade, there was a shooting in Missouri that left one person dead and twenty-one injured.

Chief of Kansas City Police Stacey Graves said during a news conference on Wednesday that three people had been taken into custody and that a total of twenty-two people had been hit by gunfire, one of whom was killed.

According to chief nursing officer Stephanie Meyer, nine children between the ages of six and fifteen are receiving treatment at Children's Mercy Hospital for gunshot wounds.

Paul Contreras, 46, told KETV, a local television station, that he witnessed the man "drop a gun when he was knocked down" and that he was one of the fans who helped "tackle" the man.

At approximately 14:00 local time (20:00 GMT), the parade came to an end at Union Station, the train station located in downtown Kansas City, and that is where the gunfire occurred. There were thousands of fans present to witness the festivities.
